UNICEF and Kenya’s Ministry of Health Collaborate to Improve Family Health and Nutrition

On Thursday, the Country Representative of UNICEF, Saheen Nilofer, met with Dr. Nakhumicha S. Wafula, the Cabinet Secretary for Health in Kenya, to discuss UNICEF’s assistance to the Ministry of Health in the areas of family health and nutrition. The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration between UNICEF and the Ministry in enhancing the dissemination of strategic plans.

UNICEF has been providing assistance to the Ministry of Health with policy and strategy development, healthcare worker training, and technical support for program implementation. Focus areas include neonatal and child health, community case management, and nutrition.

This support has been particularly focused on the Division of Neonatal and Child Health, Integrated Community Case Management Program, and Division of Nutrition and Dietetics.

During the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary emphasized the need for continued collaboration between UNICEF and the Ministry to ensure effective implementation of strategic plans.

The partnership between UNICEF and the Ministry of Health is crucial in addressing the challenges faced by families and communities in Kenya in terms of healthcare.

Through collaboration and support, UNICEF and the Ministry of Health are working towards a healthier future for families and communities in Kenya.
