Nandi Hills: Nandi East Sub County Deputy County Commissioner Ngalia Ndaya has urged unemployed youths to capitalize on government projects to secure employment. Addressing attendees at the Madaraka Day celebrations at Nandi Hills Stadium, he emphasized the availability of opportunities for both skilled and unskilled youths in current government initiatives. He encouraged local youths to participate in these projects to earn an income and improve their living standards, while avoiding detrimental activities.
According to Kenya News Agency, Ngalia highlighted the importance of hard work and advised youths to engage with government projects actively. He expressed concern over youths involved in unproductive activities that could jeopardize their future, warning against gambling and idleness, which could lead to negative outcomes like depression and criminal activities.
The Deputy County Commissioner stated that the county security team would not tolerate unlawful activities that threaten community welfare. He also advised those already employed in these projects to maintain workplace discipline and respect, while noting that more opportunities remain available for locals seeking employment.
Ngalia urged class eight dropouts and form four leavers to pursue technical courses at Ol’lesos National Polytechnic to gain skills for future government projects. Current projects in Nandi East Sub County include Koitalel Samoei University, a Modern Market, a tuition block at Ol’lessos National Polytechnic, and phase two of the Nandi Hills water project. Upcoming initiatives include affordable housing and an ICT centre of excellence.
