Trans Nzoia County Enhances Staff Skills Through Performance Appraisal Training

Trans nzoia: The County Government of Trans Nzoia has trained staff on performance management in a bid to enhance service delivery.

According to Kenya News Agency, County Director for Human Resource Management Imeldah Agoi highlighted that the exercise will equip staff with essential knowledge and skills for effective service delivery. Agoi, who also coordinates the Kenya Devolution Support Programme Phase Two (KDSP2), emphasized that the training will prepare staff to meet client and work environment demands effectively.

Agoi explained that performance management is a structured system ensuring government officers meet their targets through contracts and appraisals, promoting accountability, transparency, and quality services. She encouraged government staff to adopt the system, emphasizing that transparent processes will enhance public trust in both county and national institutions.

Kennedy Mukangai from the Kenya School of Government, along with Dr. Lucy Vike, educated the staff on the Constitution of Kenya 2010, the Public Service Act 2015, the Public Finance Management Act 2012, and Performance Contracting Guidelines. Mukangai noted that the primary goal of Performance Contracts and Appraisals is to improve public service delivery.

Dr. Vike added that both Performance Contracts and Appraisals promote transparency, efficiency, and citizen trust in service delivery. Trans Nzoia County Public Service Board Human Resource Director, Johnstone Wanjala, praised the training for its potential to develop leaders who can guide colleagues, interpret policies, and ensure adherence to standards.
