Three-Day Cattle Vaccination Starts In Butere

Farmers in Butere sub-county have a reason to smile after the department of veterinary services started vaccinating livestock in the area.
They three-day exercise targets about 20,000 cattle within the region and is free of charge.
Area veterinary officer Collince Masheti said the vaccination drive is aimed at restricting the spread of diseases like Anthrax and Black quarter that has been experienced in neighboring sub-counties.
He said Khwisero, Ikolamani and Shinyalu sub-counties have experienced the outbreak and therefore it is necessary they offer vaccines to reduce the spread of the viruses.
He said they will also offer vaccine for Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) which is widespread in the area.
Masheti had encouraged the farmers to bring their cattle for vaccination at the selected places identified by the department of veterinary services.
The exercise was done in various places including Bululwe hospital, Butunyi, Elukaka ACK, Ebushitinji Chief’s camp, Shiraha Chief’s camp, Ituto and Emukangu primary schools among other places.
