The late surgeon is to be buried today at their family home Magoha after a requiem mass at the Odera Akang’o university campus grounds in Yala town.

However, Angry villagers upon arrival of the body last Friday evening forced security men manning Prof George Magoha’s Umiru village home to open the gates and allow them in to mourn their fallen son.

Earlier, the Kenya Air Force helicopter carrying the remains of the late Magoha touched down at the Yala township primary school grounds in Gem constituency shortly after 2.00PM to a somber reception by hundreds of people, among them Luo traditional dancers and Starehe Boys centre band.

After a short prayer by father Clement Oluoch Goro of Yala catholic parish, it was transferred to a hearse which later left for St. Mary’s school Yala, where the late CS served as the chairman of the board of management from 2016 until his death.

The principal of St Mary’s school Yala, Victor Makanda and the vice chairman of the board of governors, Maxwell Ogonda hailed the deceased former cabinet secretary for his contribution to the school.

They said that under his chairmanship, Magoha helped improve infrastructure such as dormitories, two of which are named after him and Former president, Uhuru Kenyatta.
