The government is determined to improve tea earnings for local smallholder farmers even as we strive to maintain the crop as Kenya’s top export earner.
CS Mithika Linturi held a consultative meeting today, with the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Board of Directors at Kilimo House, Nairobi.
He assured the KTDA Board of Directors that his ministry is committed to working with them for the benefit of tea farmers and the country at large.
The Ministry of Agriculture is working on plans to improve the tea sector productivity by instituting several measures which include; providing fertilizer subsidy to farmers, establishment of orthodox tea lines and value addition common user facilities.
The PS Crops Development Kello Harsama, the KTDA Board of Directors led by MD Wilson Muthaura and Chairman David Muni Ichoho together with other top officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development were present during the meeting.
