The Senior Joint Command and Staff Course 38-22/23 today, 28 January 2023, held its annual Cultural Day in Karen, Nairobi, under the theme ‘Celebrating Our Cultural Diversity for Common Global Good’.
The cultural day is a key occasion in the course curriculum and is aimed at showcasing the rich cultural diversity by course participants from different nationalities, cultures and backgrounds and appreciate the role culture plays in enhancing regional peace and security.
The celebrations were marked by diverse presentations of traditional artefacts, traditional prepared food, and cultural dances.
The cultural galore was presided over by the guest of honour, who is also the JCSC Commandant Major General Eric Kinuthia.
Speaking during the event, the Commandant JCSC Major General Kinuthia highlighted that Cultural Day is an important event for the college as it serves as a strengthening factor in the midst of cultural diversities.
“This event inspires creativity, and we all get an opportunity to understand the world better by avoiding stereotypic ideologies, and this is achieved by sharing the rich culture between the African countries and the Asian continent.” Said Maj Gen Kinuthia.
Sixty one course participants drawn from fourteen countries prepared their respective country presentations and cultural exhibition to showcase their cultural diversity. The fourteen countries were: Botswana, Burundi, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nepal, Rwanda, South Sudan, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
The event was also attended by Senior Military Officers drawn from the different allied countries studying at the college, distinguished sponsors, family and friends.
