Eastern Regional Commissioner (RC) Evans Achoki has warned students undertaking the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) and their parents against attempting any form of exam malpractice, saying that stringent measures had been put in place to ensure the integrity of the exam.
Speaking while witnessing the opening and distribution of exams in Mwingi Sub County at St. Augustine Mwingi Boys’ secondary school Monday morning, Achoki said that so far not even a single case of exam irregularity had been reported in the eastern region.
The RC said that stern action would be taken against anyone found attempting to leak the exam to learners.
“This morning Eastern Region Security and Intelligence team together with the TSC Regional director visited Mwingi Sub County to oversee administration of national examinations and we are happy for our officers because everything is going on well,” Achoki said.
Achoki added that his key mission today was to oversee distribution of exam materials in Kitui, as well as wish learners in the region the best of success in their national examinations.
“The process is watertight and no parent should be cheated to buy fake papers in the name of leakage, our officers are on high alert and anyone found breaking the examination rule will be arrested and prosecuted in court of law,” he said.
Achoki encouraged all stakeholders to ensure integrity of the examination for it to reflect learners’ ability.
The RC was also accompanied by the Kitui County Commissioner Erastus Mbui, Mwingi Central Deputy County Commissioner Catherine Njoroge and Kitui County Police commander Leah Kithei.
