Jubilation rent the air in Kericho town after the Supreme Court unanimously upheld the election of Dr. William Samoei Ruto as the President-Elect.
It was song and dance in the streets immediately after the Supreme Court ruling, then a heavy down pour disrupted the celebrations on the streets of Kericho town Monday afternoon, but excited residents braved the showers for few minutes just to celebrate the vindication and win of President-Elect Dr. Ruto who will be the 5th President of Kenya.
A majority of the elated residents who spoke to KNA, lauded the Supreme Court judges led by Chief Justice Martha Koome saying they delivered a fair judgment which reflected the will of the Kenyan people, expressing trust in the judicial system.
A boda-boda rider in Kericho town, Daniel Kimutai expressed optimism that the new president would deliver on his promises of a bottom-up economic model which would eventually bring down the high cost of living for ordinary citizens.
“We are excited that our very own has been elected as president. We are hopeful of a brighter future since Dr. Ruto is a performer. Our Nation will change for the better and we believe his manifesto will benefit all hustlers,” said Kimutai.
Area leaders also joined in pouring their congratulatory messages including the County Governor Dr. Eric Mutai who said in a statement, “congratulations Dr. William Samoei Ruto the fifth President of the Republic of Kenya.”
According to the constitution, the President-Elect William Samoei Ruto, will be sworn in on the seventh day following the date on which the court renders a decision declaring the election to be valid, if any petition has been filed under Article 140.
