Nyandarua: Cabinet Secretary for Education, Dr. Julius Migos Ogamba, has highlighted the government’s dedication to bolstering the education sector to ensure improved school infrastructure and a supportive learning environment.
According to Kenya News Agency, Dr. Ogamba announced that the government has progressively increased funding for education, with a planned budget allocation of Sh767 billion for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, up from the current Sh702 billion. This increased funding is aimed at supporting the implementation of Curriculum Based Education (CBE) and enhancing education quality nationwide.
Dr. Ogamba made these remarks at Nyandarua High School during the school’s Education Day, celebrating students who excelled in last year’s KCSE exams. He was joined by his counterparts, Ms. Rebecca Miano from the Wildlife and Tourism Ministry, and Roads Principal Secretary, Eng. Joseph Mbugua.
Over the past three years, Dr. Ogamba noted that the Kenya Kwanza Administration has built over 23,000 classrooms to address enrollment challenges by improving infrastructure. Additionally, the government plans to construct more than 1,600 school laboratories across the country to boost learning capacity in STEM subjects at senior schools.
CS Miano and Nyandarua County Commissioner Abdulasaak Jaldesa urged education stakeholders to work together to support the sector and help produce quality human resources. They stressed the importance of backing the government’s efforts to implement impactful development projects.
