Security Personnel Lauded for Their Dedication and Self-Sacrifice

Homa bay: Leaders have lauded the dedication and sacrifices made by security personnel serving across the South Nyanza region, while calling for stronger family support systems and spiritual guidance.

According to Kenya News Agency, County Commissioner Ronald Mwiwawi emphasized the importance of faith in strengthening officers as they navigate the challenges of security work during the Annual Thanksgiving Service for the Uniformed Disciplined Service men and women at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Homa Bay town. Mwiwawi highlighted the resilience and commitment required in their roles, urging officers to seek divine guidance in their service to the nation.

Mwiwawi paid tribute to the sacrifices made by members of the disciplined services, noting that many officers spend decades serving in different regions of the country with limited opportunities to spend time with their families. He recognized the emotional and psychological toll this separation can impose, urging commanders to facilitate regular family vi
sits to bolster officers’ emotional support and effectiveness.

The commissioner also addressed the economic pressures faced by many officers, who often serve as the primary providers for their families. He encouraged officers to seek support from colleagues, family, and religious leaders when facing personal or professional challenges.

The thanksgiving ceremony brought together officers from various services, administrators, and religious leaders to reflect on their contributions and seek spiritual guidance. Mwiwawi called for improved relations between law enforcement agencies and the public, emphasizing shared responsibility in maintaining peace and security.

He expressed concern over the rise of youth involvement in criminal activities, pledging action against those recruiting young people into gangs. Education was underscored as crucial in protecting youth from crime, with a call for national patriotism and positive societal contributions.

Bishop Michael Odiwa, speaking at the event, urged Kenyans to
promote peace, unity, and mutual support amid growing challenges. He warned against destructive practices like suicide, bribery, and corruption, encouraging individuals to seek help rather than resorting to harmful decisions.

Bishop Odiwa reminded security officers of their sacred responsibility to exercise authority with integrity and respect for the law. He called for professionalism and accountability, fostering public trust, and appreciating the dedication of security personnel working under demanding conditions.
