Isiolo County Commissioner Mr. Geoffrey Omoding has assured education stakeholders that security has been reinforced towards overseeing the management of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
He commended all the handlers of security during the just concluded Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment where he said no ugly incidents were reported in the County and hoped the same will be extended to KCSE which starts on Friday, December 2 and the last examination day will be on Friday, December 23 2022.
Mr. Omoding said police officers will be charged with keeping vigil at all the examination centres during the exam period and have instructions on the actions to take to safeguard the integrity of the national exam.
He said the officers will be expected to ensure the exam scripts, invigilators and all the candidates are secure right from the seven examination distribution centres across the county adding the Kenya National Examination Council has helicopters on standby to cater for areas that could be rendered impassable by rains.
The County Commissioner said the containers from where the exams’ distribution take place will be opened at 6am with all the authorities and school managers present to ensure there are no malpractices regarding the authenticity of the examination papers.
The administrator said chiefs and their assistants should always be frontrunners of government policy implementation and be ever in uniform to be identified easily by school managers, supervisors and security officers as they monitor examination progress.
Speaking to journalists, Isiolo County Director of Education Mr. James Nyaga said there were two cases of KCPE candidates who went into labour while undertaking the exam on Tuesday and Wednesday.
He revealed that one of the two girls from Rumate and Emejen primary schools wrote her exam from a health centre while the other one had to sit the last papers while in labour pain at school on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
