School heads and teachers have been warned against denying admission to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) students who have not paid their fees.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua while Speaking in the Kajiado North constituency where he officially opened a Junior Secondary School lab at Enoomatasiani Primary School, Ngong, Kajiado North, and the Deputy President called on all school heads and teachers to be lenient with parents during these difficult economic times.
He reiterated the government’s commitment in ensuring the education sector runs smoothly which has been demonstrated through the timely disbursement of more than thirty billion in capitation to schools. ‘The ministry released money, for learners to go to school and any teacher who will chase them away for lack of school fees will be interdicted with immediate effect,’ Gachagua warned.
Present was Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and his PS counterpart Dr. Bellio Kipsang who echoed his sentiments on the need to be tolerant to parents du
ring these hard economic times. The Deputy President also urged members of the national government to consider allocating funds to aid in infrastructural development for schools to boost the national government.
The Deputy President also reiterated that signs of a recovering economy are eminent and called Kenyans to allow the president to deliver his mandate. ‘Our economy is headed towards full recovery, we are on the right track,’ He added.
He also warned leaders against propagating divisive politics saying that it is very insensitive, lack of political acumen to talk about succession politics, when the talk needed and necessary is about infrastructural developments that will improve the lives of Kenyans.
The Deputy President also launched the Matasia (silanga) Water Project, Matasia Ngong, and also launched the upgrading to bitumen standards of the Ngong to Kabata road. He was accompanied by several leaders from the National and county governments. Leaders from the National Assembly led by Chief Whip and
South Mugirango Member of Parliament vowed to champion the government agenda in the upper house.
