UASIN GISHU: Two directors of a school in Kimumu, Uasin Gishu County, have been arrested for administering a fake Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) to 23 candidates. The arrests have sparked uncertainty regarding the fate of these students following their participation in the counterfeit examinations on Tuesday.

According to Kenya News Agency, the Silver Bells Academy Director, a woman, and her son were apprehended by education and security officials who raided the school. The incident occurred while the unsuspecting students were in the midst of taking the exams. Uasin Gishu County Director of Education, Gitonga Thiringi, confirmed the arrests, stating that the so-called school was not registered as an examination center. “The place is not even a school; it’s just in someone’s homestead. The examinations being administered were fake and not from the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC),” said Thiringi.

The suspects are currently detained at the Chepkanga police post in Moiben sub-coun
ty, where parents have been called to record their statements. In response to the incident, Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Dr. Eddyson Nyale has directed the Department of Education and Security agencies to take immediate action against those responsible. Dr. Nyale expressed astonishment at how the institution had been allowed to operate for such an extended period without registration.
