Retired Chief Highlights Importance of Madaraka Fete

Busia: John Wanjala Makhanu, a retired Senior Chief who concluded his 33-year government service in 2001, joined residents at Naitiri RC Primary School to celebrate Madaraka Day in Bungoma North Sub-County. Makhanu, who was born in Misikhu and is now a farmer in Naitiri, emphasized the significance of attending such national events.

According to Kenya News Agency, Makhanu stressed that participating in these occasions is vital for staying informed about government policies and demonstrating patriotism. He also shared his experience of witnessing the first Madaraka Day in Bungoma in 1963, underscoring his long-standing connection to the country’s history.
