Residents Want Opening Of Narumoru Level 4 Hospital Fast-Tracked

Kieni residents in Nyeri County have called upon the county government to officially open the newly built Sh335 million Narumoru Level 4 hospital to ease their suffering in accessing medical attention.
Speaking to the press in Narumoru town, the residents said they go through a lot of challenges while seeking medical attention, citing that they mostly depend on neighbouring hospitals either in Nyeri town, Nyahururu or Nanyuki.
“Most of the time we suffer a lot while seeking for treatment. We are forced to travel long distances in search of good healthcare, whereas we have this big hospital in our area. I am calling upon our government to act with speed and open the hospital so that we can benefit from its services,” said Mercy Wanjiru, one of the residents.
The residents have also pleaded with the government to make sure that the health facility is equipped with all the necessary equipment, adding that having multiple health services provided under one roof, will ease their burden when seeking specialized medical care.
“As a Boda Boda rider, I can get involved in an accident that may require x-ray services. If this facility does not have an X-ray machine it will become very difficult for them to get specialized services. I am pleading with our government to ensure that the facility is well-equipped before its official opening,” said another Henry Mwangi.
Nonetheless, they have lauded both national and county government for building the ultra-modern hospital in their area, adding that it will not only offer medical attention, but also create job opportunities for their unemployed youth.
The construction of the ultra-modern health facility was jointly funded by the county government and the World Bank under the Kenya Devolution Support Program (KDSP).
The 175 bed upcoming hospital is expected to decongest the Nyeri Teaching and Referral hospital and save Kieni residents the burden of seeking medical attention from the neighbouring hospitals.
