Baringo residents have expressed confidence that the government of Dr William Ruto will support them in solving key challenges bedeviling their county.
Led by Baringo deputy governor Charles Kipngok, accompanied by other local leaders, the residents said that God has answered their prayers by giving them a government and a passionate leader who is willing to support even the less fortunate in the society.
The leaders who led jubilant residents of Kabarnet town in celebrating the upholding of Ruto’s win at the county headquarters’ central business district (CBD) on Monday lauded the Supreme Court Judges for upholding the president elect election in the August 9, 2022 polls.
Kipngok stated that the county was grappling with serious challenges like water shortage occasioned by the stalled multimillion Kirandich phase two connectivity, lack of a public university and a stadium which they hope the national government in collaboration with county government shall address.
“We are happy that we have gotten a hardworking leader to be our 5th president who will guarantee success to both our nation and our county where our people have been yearning for real development,” he said.
The deputy governor stated that the county administration will see to it that the livelihoods of residents are improved through various support programmes and will even go out of their way to recommend them to apply proposed Sh50 billion ‘hustler funds’ as promised by Ruto to enable them grow their respective socio-economic enterprises.
Kabarnet ward MCA Ernest Kibet lauded Supreme Court judges led by Chief Justice Martha Koome for delivering the much awaited ruling saying she will go down in history as the first woman to have overseen such a monumental decision.
Kibet stated that residents now feel relieved after so many days of uncertainty since casting their vote which was later contested in court.
“It is now the time for each and every one of us to unite so that both our county governments and national government can move forward,” he said.
The Kabarnet MCA expressed disappointment with Kenya Power after experiencing power blackout when Supreme Court Judges were reading the ruling of the presidential election petition frustrating their efforts to follow the proceedings.
Kibet supported MCAs Alex Kurui (Kapropita), Henry Kigen (Tenges) and Ayub Kibet (Ewalel Chapchap) demanded a written apology to be addressed to the county government of Baringo explaining what really happened since it is almost becoming a norm whenever big events are held in the country.
Ayub Kibet in his remarks pledged to team up with other elected leaders from the county to ensure they deliver most of their campaign promises for the electorates.
Outgoing Bartabwa MCA Reuben Chepsongol said that Ruto’s government will play a crucial role in ending insecurity challenge in the lower parts of the county affected by banditry and cattle rustling vices.
