Eastern Regional Commissioner (RC) Evans Achoki has assured all the candidates sitting for KCSE, KPSEA and KCPE examinations in the area of tight security during the period of the three national exams.
Mr Achoki said that adequate security personnel have been deployed in all the examination centres ahead of the commencement of the three national examinations.
“We have beefed up the security in all counties to ensure that candidates move swiftly from their homes to examination centres without any interruption. We have deployed adequate security in all examination centres ahead of the commencement of the three national examinations,” said the RC.
The administrator disclosed that plans have been made to ensure that candidates in the drought-hit areas of the region are provided with free meals during the examination period.
He at the same time warned those bent on compromising the integrity of the examinations through cheating that they will be firmly dealt with within the law.
“Come rain, come sunshine, we shall administer the examinations as scheduled,” the RC assured, adding that plans have also been made to ensure candidates in the drought-hit areas of the region are provided with free meals during the examination period.
The commissioner who spoke after meeting with the regional security and education heads in the region also said that the Government will provide sanitary towels to all female students who will be sitting for the national examinations to ensure that they do their examinations comfortably.
Eastern Regional Director of Education William Sugut reported that 173,000 candidates will be sitting for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for grade 6, 198000 for KCPE while 141,000 will sit for KCSE.
He said that the examinations for KPSEA and KCPE are set to run from November 28-30 with KCSE being done between 21st November to 23rd December.
Dr Sugut said that all the supervisors, invigilators and centre managers have been deployed adequately calling on them to put their best foot forward to ensure that they work as a team to deliver credible examinations.
He added that transportation plans for the examinations have been made to ensure that the exams will be delivered to all examination centres on time.
