Nairobi: National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) in Nairobi County are being urged to maintain public courtesy and respect in their duties as representatives of the government. The Nairobi Regional Commissioner (RC), Gilbert Kitiyo, emphasized that officers are public servants and should focus on service delivery rather than adopting a boss-like attitude.
According to Kenya News Agency, Kitiyo reminded the officers to serve with dignity and to meet the expectations of the public. He stressed the importance of maintaining a professional demeanor while serving as the face of the government. Kitiyo, accompanied by Nairobi County Commissioner David Wanyonyi, addressed NGAO administrators and Departmental Heads from Dagoretti South, Dagoretti North, and Westlands Sub Counties during a familiarization tour.
On matters of security, Kitiyo encouraged administrators to foster a business-friendly environment by safeguarding lives and property. He noted that effective planning, organization, and execution of their duties could help reduce criminal activities. Kitiyo also urged public servants to share information on public issues with their counterparts to address concerns effectively and ensure national safety and stability.
Kitiyo advised officers to work collaboratively and conduct monthly meetings to review and improve their programs and projects. He emphasized the importance of monitoring and evaluating government-funded initiatives to ensure value for money and prevent project displacement. Chiefs and their assistants were also encouraged to engage the public in government development projects to enhance community participation, particularly in initiatives such as SHA, Agriculture, Climate WorX, Junior Secondary School construction, cash transfer for the elderly, job recruitment, affordable housing, and the 100 percent transition program.
