President Underlines Need to Elevate Ethiopia’s Diplomatic Accomplishments

President President Sahle-Work Zewde stressed the need to maintain and further elevate the existing achievements that Ethiopia has been registering in the diplomatic sphere.

The president today officially inaugurated an exhibition that highlights Ethiopia’s 116-year diplomatic history and contemporary diplomatic accomplishments.

The exhibition, inaugurated at the Science Museum under the theme “From an African Hub to the World,” will remain open for public until February 2, 2024.

On the occasion, the president recalled the history of Ethiopia’s diplomacy had gone through several ups and downs.

The President said the exhibition depicts the rich history of Ethiopia’s diplomacy providing opportunities to know and learn more.

Expressing her hope that the exhibition would inspire Ethiopians, the President called up on the youth to better understand the diplomatic history of Ethiopia in order make their own contributions to the ongoing diplomatic endeavors.

The president stated that Ethiopia is a nation with
a long history of government, which has long protected its independence, and a founding member of numerous international institutions and organizations.

Stating that foreign policies are the manifestations of internal realities, she said the Expo properly depicts the greatness of Ethiopia.

President Sahle-Work concluded her remark by extending an invitation for all Ethiopians and the diplomatic community to pay a visit to the exhibition.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen, stated that the exhibition highlights Ethiopia’s vast and rich diplomatic history further helping us learn from this rich history, prepare us to effectively manage current and future challenges, and establish a strong foundation to execute our foreign relations.

Demeke also affirmed that Ethiopia values its relationships with countries worldwide and its substantial contributions to the formation, development, and respect for international law.

bition, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke called upon everyone to pay a visit to the exhibition and appreciate Ethiopia’s 116 years of diplomatic history and it’s potential for diversified engagements in the future.
