President Ruto Assumes Office

President Dr. William Ruto was today sworn in as the fifth president of the republic of Kenya at a colourful ceremony held at the Moi international sports complex Kasarani in Nairobi.
Chief Justice Martha Koome and the Chief Registrar of the judiciary Anne Amadi administered the oath of allegiance and subsequent assumption to the office of the Presidency to both Dr. Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
President Uhuru Kenyatta later handed Dr. Ruto the instruments of power including the constitution of the Kenya and the ceremonial presidential sword that symbolized his new role as the commander in chief of the Kenya defence forces.
At least twenty heads of Government across the African continent graced the inauguration ceremony attended by thousands of residents some of whom travelled from up country to witness the historical event.
