Polling Stations, Voters To Receive Maximum Security

The government has beefed up security to ensure that the 219 polling stations and the electorate in Isiolo County are secure and cast their vote on Tuesday next week.
Enough security personnel have been assigned the designated centres to ensure there was full security of electoral officials and materials during the voting process.
Isiolo County Commissioner Mr. Geoffrey Omoding said that some politicians are inciting the youth to cause chaos during the voting period but warned that those behind such retrogressive activities would be ruthlessly dealt with.
Omoding appealed to the residents to make sure they vote and go home instead of hanging around the polling stations to cause unwarranted tension.
The CC was speaking during the signing of a peace accord by seven candidates vying for various positions in the County.
He said that the security officers who include KDF, Regular and Administration Police, Prison and forest guards would fully participate in maintenance of security during the election and urged wananchi to swiftly report any ugly incidents to the authority.
He said that voters at Koticha and Kubi Serra area will vote just as other Kenyans.
Mr. Omoding said that some politicians would be recording statements tomorrow over allegations of intimidating voters in the two areas claiming they do not belong there.
The Isiolo County returning officer Mr. Samuel Sekii said that ballot papers for parliamentary seat, Governors, Women Rep, Senators and MCAs were already at the constituency offices and they were only waiting for Presidential papers any time.
Mr. Sekii said that votes tallying centres for the County and Isiolo North Constituency would be at Isiolo Boys and Isiolo Girls Secondary Schools respectively while Isiolo South Constituency remains at Garbatula high school.
The Returning Officer further said that Koticha and Kubi Serra are registered polling stations which existed for the last 20 years.
Isiolo County has 89,504 registered voters.
