Ekerenyo: By-election aspirants in Ekerenyo ward of North Mugirango Constituency have urged residents to cast their votes early and in large numbers to ensure they participate in choosing their elected leader today.
According to Kenya News Agency, UPA aspirant Jeremiah Ongaro has expressed concern over the low voter turnout at polling stations. He has been urging residents to leave their homes and vote, emphasizing the importance of finalizing the by-election process quickly. Ongaro appealed to voters to make their decisions early by voting and stressed that failing to participate in elections results in missed opportunities for development.
Ford Kenya aspirant Margaret Nyanchama, who cast her vote at Gekendo DOK Primary School, echoed this sentiment. She encouraged residents to avoid bribery and choose their leaders wisely, highlighting the importance of voting early. Nyanchama advised against lingering around polling centers after voting, noting that it could lead to unnecessary disruptions or even danger.
The aspirants observed that, while the exercise remains peaceful across most polling stations in Ekerenyo ward, voter turnout is particularly low among the younger generation. They have called on security personnel to ensure peace is maintained throughout the day until the by-election winners are announced.
