PM Strongly Warns Parties Involved in Attempting to Create Conflict between Ethiopia, Sudan

Ethiopia strongly condemns allegations that it brought troops inside Sudanese border areas and warns the parties involved in incitement and conflict to meet their lowly political goals by spreading false claims, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said.

In a statement he posted in Arabic today, the premier condemned parties that are seeking to achieve their lowly political goals by spreading false claims.

“At this critical stage, in which the identity, the shared destiny of the Sudanese people, and Ethiopians are facing challenges, there are some parties that are seeking to achieve their lowly political goals by spreading false claims. It is very unfortunate that these sides are claiming that Ethiopia brought its troops inside the Sudanese border areas. ”

Abiy also dismissed the false claims of those parties that Ethiopia brought its military personnel to the Sudanese border.

“It is very unfortunate that these forces are claiming that Ethiopia brought its troops inside the Sudanese border areas. We strongly condemn these allegations, which lead to distorting the good neighborly relations between Ethiopia and Sudan.”

The PM underscored that Ethiopia believes the border issue with the neighboring Sudan can only be solved through dialogue.

“We strongly believe that the border issue between the two sister countries will be resolved through dialogue and discussions where Ethiopia values brotherhood, good neighborliness between our two countries, and does not want to exploit the current circumstances in Sudan.”

Ethiopia is following the claims of these parties that are not aware of the Ethiopian government’s priority is peace.

Similarly, we also follow that these sides are working at full speed to incite Sudan to bring its troops inside the Ethiopian border.

“We fully trust that the brotherly Sudanese people will not heed to such claims, but seek to stand with the Ethiopian people who value good neighbors.”

Abiy emphasized that Ethiopia does not want to exploit the current conditions of the brotherly nation Sudan, adding that all we wish is for peace and stability to return to Sudan.
