Nairobi: Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) Musalia Mudavadi has reiterated his support for the cooperation and working relationship between President Dr. William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
According to Kenya News Agency, Mudavadi clarified that he was in full support of the broad-based government despite being away on official engagement during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi.
The event was attended by prominent leaders, including politicians from the Kenya Kwanza-affiliated parties and the ODM party, which Mudavadi missed. However, speaking during the burial ceremony of the late David Kirinyet in Chemaner, Bomet County, on the same day, Mudavadi expressed his backing for the cooperation agreement between the President and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The PCS implored Kenyans to support the President’s decision to work with the opposition to foster inclusivity and stability in the spirit of a broad-based government. Mudavadi conveyed condolences from the President to the family and friends of the late Kirinyet, who was the father of the Principal Secretary for Parliamentary Affairs, Aurelia Ronoh.
In light of the recent MOU signing between the President and Odinga, Mudavadi emphasized that the unity between the two parties aims to enhance and sustain unity among Kenyans. He also stated that the President’s vision is focused on progress and concern for the people of Kenya, urging the country to support him.
“We must support Ruto to the hilt, and I want to say that his agenda is to unite Kenya and spur development,” Mudavadi said. The PCS affirmed that his quest for a united Kenya motivated him to lead the merger of his party, Amani National Congress (ANC), with UDA to help President Ruto steer peaceful coexistence, unity, and development in the country.
