The President of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) Migori County has urged parents to encourage their children that sat for their 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
Speaking at SDA Headquarters in Ranen, Awendo Sub County, Pastor Otieno Ngore, said guardians should inspire their children positively, regardless of their grades, to create a positive impact in their lives.
He told parents to ensure that they motivate their children that did not do well in the just released KCPE results and make them stay focused as they transit to the secondary schools.
Ngore whose son, Jared, emerged third in Migori County with 412 marks from Ranen Adventist School noted that grades and marks do not necessary define a person. He noted that what the student does with those grades onwards is what really matters.
He said that in national exams there is no failure and everyone has the potential of becoming someone in future.
Ngore said exams grades are influenced by many factors but the important thing is how the parents play their part to ensure that their children are enthused.
The clergyman noted that children can become whom they want if the guardians encourage, support and stand with them.
Director of Education, Ranen Conference SDA Migori County, Pastor Osoba James, noted that churches should play a big role to educate and instill moral and good Christian values to the young ones as they transit to high school.
He noted that students go to school to get an education and good grades but education without Christian morals and values is worthless.
Pastor Osoba noted that Ranen Institution which comprises a church radio, a secondary and a primary school strive to give their learners the best education while at the same time offering Christian nourishments.
He pointed out that teaching children Christian values will be an added advantage to students to perform well. He said that Christian values transit to better discipline that results in better performance.
“Academic grades will help you to transit to another level, but God will enable you to succeed”, noted Osoba.
He noted that every person is born to succeed and encouraged students to improve on their academic standards while at the same time, balance between faith and academics.
Apart from producing the third best student in the county, the school also produced seven students that scored above 400 marks while 22 students scored above 350 marks with a mean score of 363.
