Pageant Winners Share Plans for Their Tenure

Having bagged the most coveted beauty titles at the University, Sanja Nyamwega and Nthale Sharon Kasiva, who are the new Mr. and Miss JKUAT respectively, have shared the plans that will dictate the success of their tenure.
The duo is raring to get their university ambassadorial roles off to a flying start with their individual plans alongside their responsibilities as acting representatives for JKUAT affiliated events such as sporting events, festivals and other student’s events.
Sharon who is in her Fourth Year of Study pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, has set her sights on lifting self-belief among fellow students by encouraging them to pursue their passion while Sanja who is a Third-Year Student pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Public Health wants to be a mental health champion.
Sharon played down the notion that holding Miss University title is only about physical beauty.
“Being Miss JKUAT is not just about a crown and a title. I plan on representing JKUAT in the best way possible and be part of projects that will be impactful to many. I also intend to mentor aspiring models who may be interested in pageantry,” said Sharon.
She added that her ultimate aim is to use her position to inspire other students by motivating them to go for what ‘sets their hearts on fire’ regardless of what others may think of them.
The beauty queen stated that the lure of becoming Miss JKUAT was borne out of her passion for modelling and the urge to get out of her comfort zone.
She stated that modelling is not new to her revealing that she has previously done extensive modelling for renowned brands.
“I did commercial modelling for a small business whereby I modelled their products which included ankara dresses, pants, bags, hats and shoes. I also work as a brand ambassador for Hennessy and Moet,” said Sharon.
On his part, Sanja has founded an association dubbed; Okoa Ndugu Yako Foundation to accelerate the world’s transition to ssustainable health while also using the platform to vouch for mental health and extra judicial killings.
“The objectives of my association are to promote better living conditions for JKUAT students and the society at large by providing social services such as healthcare and education to those who need it most by giving motivational talks to different institutions using different educational programs,” Sanja revealed.
While welcoming students to join the Association, Sanja said that his movement will avert more suicide cases from happening by providing a platform for students to speak up and express issues they struggle with.
He added that only through concerted efforts will suicide cases be a thing of the past.
