Officials from the Somali government attending a conference on climate issues in Kenya

Officials from the Federal Government of Somalia, including directors and experts from the Ministries such as the Ministry of Water, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Livestock and the Disaster Management Agency are participating in the periodic forecasting conference of CHACOF62 taking place in Mombasa, Kenya.
The conference focuses on managing climate change, building resilience and to mitigate natural floods and droughts.
Mr. Guled Cartan, the Director of ICPAC, said that it is important that the member states of IGAD work together to change climate information to its clear use and benefit from it, through the production process.
This forum will continue until 25th of August, and members will present their efforts to address seasonal forecasting issues of CHACOF62. The ICPAC organization plays a vital role in the management of Climate Change and the promotion of the region so that fruitful recommendations can be reached.
The participating countries in the conference are Djibouti, Ethiopia, Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan and other supporting countries of the Horn of Africa.
