Needy students in Nyaribari Masaba Constituency, Kisii are set to benefit from Sh38 million bursary kitty that will boost their learning in various institutions. Speaking during the launch of the bursary programme in the Constituency, Nyaribari Masaba Member of Parliament Dr Daniel Manduku said his office is committed to giving students quality education and added that the distribution of the bursaries from the National Government-Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) will be equitable for all. ‘We have disbursed a total of Sh38,380,000 to higher learning institutions so that our children can have a seamless academic programme. Each student is expected to receive between Sh8, 000 and Sh10, 000 depending on the need,’ Dr.Manduku noted. He pointed out that education support will ensure the learners perform well in their studies and support their parents in the future. In addition, the MP collaborated with the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to unveil the social protection programme where 1,100 vulnerable families were registered so that they can receive quality health care services whenever they fell sick. Similarly, in the neighbouring Nyaribari Chache Constituency, the area MP Zaheer Jhanda has allocated Sh47 million towards bursaries so that vulnerable students in the region can access education. The legislator said each student would receive Sh10, 000 and encouraged parents to visit the CDF offices in Keumbu Ward and pick bursary forms to enable them to access the funds. Additionally, Jhanda noted he had sought an opportunity for 1,500 young men and women to travel to Qatar to seek job opportunities abroad and improve their livelihoods. The MP cautioned parents of the youth against bribing anyone in his office with the promise that their children will secure the chance to travel to Qatar saying the process will be transparent and free of charge.
