Nyandarua Women Rep Calls For Closure Of Bars On The Eve Of Olkalou By-Election

Nyandarua: Nyandarua Woman Rep has called for the closure of all bars in Ol Kalou constituency on the eve of the July 16 by-election voting day. Ms. Faith Gitau emphasized that shutting down the bars would enable a higher turnout of youthful voters to participate in the electoral process.

According to Kenya News Agency, Ms. Gitau, accompanied by Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru, MP Kirinyaga Central Gachoki Gitari, and Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker Muteti Murimi, addressed a gathering of women at Kieni in Kaibaga Ward within Ol’ Kalou constituency. The assembly was part of their campaign to rally support for the UDA candidate, Samuel Muchina, in the upcoming by-election. The leaders emphasized the importance of separating the by-election from the forthcoming General Election, countering claims by their DCP opponents who suggested the July poll was a precursor to next year’s elections.

The political leaders, joined by a number of MCAs from both Nyandarua and Kirinyaga, sought to drum up support for Ms. Gitau’s gubernatorial ambitions in the upcoming elections. Governor Waiguru extended an invitation to Nyandarua women to visit Kirinyaga County to witness the achievements of her leadership, highlighting the county’s success stories, including the establishment of level four hospitals in every ward.

The leaders expressed confidence that the UDA party would emerge victorious in the Ol Kalou constituency by-elections scheduled for July 16. Waiguru and Gitau underscored the by-election as a critical assessment of the government’s performance in the Mt Kenya region, urging the electorate to support the UDA candidate, Samuel Muchina, as a continuation of the late MP David Kiaraho’s legacy.

Gitau argued that Muchina, having worked closely with the late MP as his personal assistant, was well-suited to advance the development agenda set by Kiaraho. Muchina pledged to prioritize the completion of projects initiated by his predecessor, including the construction of Nyandarua University and improvements in the education and health sectors, should he be elected.
