Veronica Lucas, the top KCPE girl at Kivaani Primary in Machakos County with 391 marks, is devastated after failing to join Form One at Muthale Girls in Kitui County due to lack of funds.
Veronica who has a dream of becoming a lawyer is now unsure of what her future holds, as she sees all her peers joining secondary school while she is left at home in her own deep in her thoughts.
While speaking to the media at her home village in Kivaani Sub Location of Mua Ward, Veronica appealed to well-wishers to help her get funds to be able to achieve her dreams and join high school.
“I thank God I did well on my KCPE and got 391 marks and have been called to a National School Muthale girls in Kitui County but my mother is unable to raise the funds. I plead with well-wishers to help me get to high school,” said Veronica.
“I want to be a lawyer in the future and when I see my friends going to school, I get confused because I have to stay at home as my mother struggles to find fees,” added the devastated Veronica.
Her Mother Patricia Nzau is appealing to any Good Samaritan who would help her daughter get to school, saying she has tried to source funds but all her efforts have not borne fruits.
Patricia says that she went to Equity bank and was given a form to fill and was told to wait until they call her with the progress.
“I was given a form to fill at Equity bank to get a scholarship for wings to fly, but when I went back to enquire, they asked me to go back home and wait yet up to now I have not heard from them,” said Patricia.
She laments that every time she sees her daughter home while her friends are in school she gets depressed because her child did well and they were doing everything they could to get funds yet time was not on their side.
The reporting date for Form 1 was May 4, 2022, and Education CS George Magoha had said all learners who sat the KCPE Examination would secure Form 1 admission in line with the government’s 100 per cent transition.
