NCIC, Ministry Of Interior Launch Peace Caravan

National Cohesion and Integration Commission in connection with Interior Ministry in Kisii County has launched a two days peace caravan to heighten calls for peace ahead of August national elections.
Flagging off the caravan at the county headquarters this morning County Commissioner Allan Machari said the activity was one of the many others geared towards ensuring the region did not fall prey to scrupulous individuals who intend to cause chaos during the campaign period.
Machari said the stakeholders had previously held sessions with the politicians vying for various seats to strategise on peaceful campaigns to ensure tranquility ahead of the August polls
He said the caravan would head towards Nyakoe in Kitutu Chache South and later Marani Sub County where it will visit various wards.
Tomorrow, the caravan will leave Kisii headquarters through Kilgoris route to Itumbe in Sameta Sub County, before Nyamarambe in Gucha South and Etago Sub counties.
He said other activities will include meeting the youth and women groups among other peace actors.
NCIC Commissioner Dorcas Kedogo underscored the need for every mwananchi to maintain peace saying they stood to lose most if chaos erupts.
Noting that politics was just for a season, Kedogo urged candidates for various posts to be cautious in their campaigns and be ready to accept the elections outcome.
