Namachanja, Kisiwa Through To National Scouting Competition

Namachanja High School and Kisiwa Technical Training Institute from Bungoma are representing Western region in the National Scouting competition held at Rowallan Camp Site in Nairobi.
The two schools got an opportunity to proceed to the nationals after being the best in the regional scouting competition held at Mumias Complex.
The winners are expected to represent Kenya in the East Africa regional Competition that will be held in Tanzania.
Mohammed Arthman, their Patrol Leader who has experience in scouting and won more awards in scouting including the best Patrol Leader in 2019, urged them to work smart and take advantage of the training they had done
Mr. Julias Lelei, Kanduyi Sub-county Scout Commissioner in Bungoma, who accompanied the two teams, commended the teams for making Bungoma County proud and expressed confidence of emerging the best in the national competition.
“We have been selected to be here because you are the best, let’s show that we are indeed the best and most importantly, maintain discipline at the camp site,” Lelei said.
He added that scouting is one of the activities that is shaping the next generation in terms of learning different skills such as construction, first Aid administration and home-based skills.
“When you are here we expect you to learn more as a scout, we should be at the fore-front in environment conservation as it is one of our mandates as scouts, he Said.
The students got some time to visit the Rowalland serenity including a place where Lord Biden Powell stepped his foot before he died.
Moses Ouma, their trainer stated that they are at the cutting edge to tackle any tasks they will be assigned because Namachanja has a history of performing well up to the nationals.
“Namachanja has been to the nationals and even represented Kenya at the East Africa region competition so scouting has always been part of our life, ” Ouma acknowledged.
The students representing the school said they were confident to face their competitors from other schools, adding that they came to win and go home with the trophy.
