Nakuru Set To Construct Sh68 Million Recreational Park

The Nakuru County government has commenced the construction of Sh. 68 million Naivasha Municipality recreational park as part of its beautification project for the town.
Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui said the project that is located at the heart of Naivasha town is set to transform the municipality for both the business and recreational environment.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony of the project, Kinyanjui said the recreational park, a first of its kind in the town, will benefit the public as it will provide a safe playground for children as well as for people to relax.
The governor said the park which was being targeted by land grabbers will be rehabilitated through a partnership between the county and the World Bank.
Kinyanjui added that the county government is committed towards face-lifting Naivasha town which is considered a resort, tourist and conferencing center to match with the status of surrounding high end hotels and hospitality facilities in order to boost business.
He said his administration is on course to complete the rehabilitation of the roads around the Naivasha Township with 10km of roads already undertaken.
The governor further acknowledged that the county government has been able to reclaim grabbed public land and vowed to protect all pieces of land reserved for public use.
Naivasha according to the governor has largely benefited from the huge government infrastructure developments in the region including the Standard Gauge Railway, multi-billion Naivasha Inland Container Depot at Mai Mahiu and the construction of the Rironi-Mau Summit expressway which is expected to reduce travel time from the town to Nairobi.
Viwandani area MCA Eric Gichuki commended the county government for the project adding that it will transform the town urban planning plans including street lighting, drainage system and walkways.
The MCA called on the county government to ensure resettlement of the street children who were residing at the park.
