Naibei Wins 1st Edition Of Iten International Marathon

Samuel Naibei is the winner of the first edition of Iten international marathon men’s race which was held in iten Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Naibei won the 42km marathon with a time of 2:08:42, Joshua Kogo came in second with a time of 2:10:33 with Albert Kangogo coming third with a time of 2:11:45.

In the women’s category Caroline Jepchirchir from Trans Nzoia County won the race clocking a time of 2:28:33.

Jepchirchir was followed closely by Suzy Chemaimak with a time of 2:33:49 with Mercy Kipkemoi coming third with a time of 2:35:09.

Governor Wisley Rotich said that the government is working on establishing running tracks for athletes to practice.

Winners in both men and women race each took home Sh1 million, those who came in second were awarded Sh.750,000 with those in third position getting Sh500,000.
