Water and Sanitation Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome led the opening of examinations container and thereafter distribution of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations at Kigumo sub-county, Murang’a on November 28.
Ms Wahome was accompanied by various county officers including the County Commissioner Karuku Ngumo, County Director of Education, Anne Kiilu, and Murang’a Women Representative Betty Maina.
The team oversaw the opening of the consignment containing national exams with the CS saying the government was committed to ensuring the exams are conducted seamlessly starting from proper handling of examination papers.
“We are here to ensure that all the papers are in the right condition and they have not been tampered with,” she said, adding that they would ensure that the examinations had started without a hitch.
She urged all the managers at the various examination centers together with all the stakeholders to ensure that the examination period was not interrupted by any cases of malpractice that may result in cancelling of the examination results.
Speaking on behalf of the CS for Education, Wahome underscored the importance of teachers and supervisors ensuring that the exam process runs without interruptions and transparently as any anomalies would be costly to the students.
In Murang’a County, 26,234 candidates will be sitting for KCPE examinations in 625 centers while another 24,985 candidates will be sitting for the KPSEA exam in 635 centers.
