Eldoret city: The MU Technologies Digital Assembly Plant, located in Eldoret City, has announced its willingness to collaborate with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in the development of devices for data capturing in the upcoming 2027 General Election.
According to Kenya News Agency, Philip Kipkoech, project manager of MU Technologies, along with factory engineer Joel Mosonic, has extended an invitation to the IEBC team to visit their facility. The aim is to showcase the plant’s capabilities in producing necessary devices for the election process. They asserted that the plant possesses the requisite capacity and expertise to meet the needs of the IEBC.
The plant has a proven track record of assembling various digital devices, including tablets, laptops, desktops, and smart meters. These devices are tailored to meet the requirements of different government entities, allowing for seamless data transmission to servers. Eng. Mosonic highlighted that the plant can produce 1,250 tablets and 700 desktops daily.
As an innovation and technology hub associated with Moi University, the plant supports government initiatives like JITUME, which focuses on equipping youth with digital skills. The plant is versatile and capable of assembling a wide range of devices, making it open to collaboration with government institutions and MDAs.
Currently, the plant is involved in assembling a variety of devices and installing specialized software for SMEs and other organizations. This is achieved through partnerships with foreign companies that supply components for their Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) assembly processes. Eng. Mosonic emphasized their commitment to providing innovative solutions for institutional challenges and supporting students from Moi University in marketing their digital innovations.
