MORE VEGETATION COVER FOR A BETTER TOMORROW

On Friday, 02 December 2022, the Kenya Army personnel from the 8th Mechanised Infantry Brigade and the 5th Battalion, the Kenya Rifles planted over 1,000 trees within the cantonment of the 5th Battalion, the Kenya Rifles in Gilgil, Nakuru County.
The personnel undertook the tree planting exercise in support of the government’s effort to plant 15 million trees by 2030.
Commander of the 8th Mechanised Infantry Brigade Brigadier David Chesire urged the Service Personnel to replicate the efforts outside military cantonments and in their homes in order to help in achieving the government’s objectives faster. He added that tree growing will help the country in actualising its environmental sustainability goals.
The Commanding Officer of the 5th Battalion, the Kenya Rifles Lieutenant Colonel Japheth Mulwa reminded the soldiers to put emphasis in tree growing as the efforts will help in mitigating the effects brought about by environmental degradation.
The tree planting exercise was conducted in the sidelines of the Multi-agency Command Post training Exercise held in Gilgil.
