Khwisero: More households in Emulusio Village, Kisa Central Ward, Khwisero sub-county, Kakamega county are set to be connected to electricity under the ongoing Last-Mile Electricity Connectivity Programme, a move expected to boost economic activities and improve livelihoods in the area.
According to Kenya News Agency, Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka highlighted the initiative’s potential to expand access to electricity for homes, schools, and small businesses while supporting the constituency’s development agenda during a project inspection. The electricity project is part of a broader effort by the National Government to invest in infrastructure and stimulate socio-economic growth in the region.
MP Aseka also noted progress on several other key projects, including the construction of the Khwisero Level IV Hospital, Khwisero ESP Market, Affordable Housing Project, 340-bed hostels at Khwisero Vocational Training Centre (KVTC), and the KVTC Mechanical Workshop. He further mentioned the operational status of the KVTC Jitume ICT Hub and the improvements in maternal healthcare access brought about by the Ekambuli Health Centre Maternity Wing.
Additionally, the MP discussed plans to upgrade the Lunza-Khukolomani, Manyulia-Dudi, and Khwisero-Eshibinga roads to bitumen standards, which is expected to enhance transport, facilitate trade, and improve access to public services. He encouraged residents to engage in public forums to help identify priority development needs and ensure government projects align with community expectations.
Residents have expressed optimism that these projects will accelerate economic growth, generate employment opportunities, and improve access to essential services throughout the constituency.
