Mombasa International ASK Trade Fair Underway

The Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Mombasa International Show chapter enters its third day on Friday with various activities lined up for show-goers and special groups at the Mkomani grounds.
The show, which opened its doors to the public on Wednesday offers a wide range of entertainment such as family activities and a variety of fun-fair games for both the kids and parents besides arena events.
“We look forward to a successful and exciting event and we expect impressive attendance,” said Mombasa ASK Show Chairperson Anisa Abdalla.
She said hundreds of public and private sector exhibitors are showcasing their products and services at the annual event.
The five-day agriculture and trade fair which resumes after having been suspended for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic was officially opened on Thursday by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Ms. Abdalla expressed confidence that this year’s event whose theme is ‘Promoting Innovation and Technology in Agriculture and Trade’ will attract more visitors and special groups including students from various schools and colleges.
Ms. Abdalla confirmed that more than 150 exhibitors are taking part and have put together current innovations and technologies that will guarantee expansive networking as well as rich business connections and interactions with foremost stakeholders in the industry.
Among those participating are key national government ministries, parastatals, county governments and those from the private sector.
Coast Development Authority (CDA) was voted as one of the outstanding stands scooping four awards in different categories.
“The Mombasa International Show continues to be the leading agriculture and trade exhibition forum within the coastal region and its environs empowering and imparting knowledge to the public,” she added.
Ms. Abdalla said the region has embraced agriculture as an important economic activity and urged local farmers and traders to actively participate in this year’s trade fair to benefit from traditional and emerging business opportunities.
“We urge more farmers to participate in the trade fairs because there is a lot to learn and besides it offers huge marketing opportunities,” she said adding that the agricultural show provides an avenue to share business ideas with other farmers.
