Molo: Molo Member of Parliament (MP) Kimani Kuria has expressed strong support for President William Ruto’s recent signing of a significant health agreement with the United States. Kuria highlighted the potential positive impact on Kenya’s health sector during his speech at the Jamhuri Day celebration at Molo Stadium. He also addressed the opposition, urging them to avoid spreading misleading information about the deal.
According to Kenya News Agency, the $2.5 billion agreement is designed to combat infectious diseases in Kenya and is the first of its kind since the Trump administration’s changes to the US foreign aid program. The Government-to-Government pact aims to enhance transparency and accountability but has sparked concerns about potential US access to sensitive health data.
Kuria criticized those with legal challenges, suggesting such actions could hinder health sector development. He refuted claims that health data was shared with the US, labeling such assertions as unfounded propaganda. He called for objectivity among both government and opposition leaders, emphasizing the agreement’s benefits for Kenya.
In addition to discussing the health pact, Kuria announced that Molo residents will soon have access to land registry services locally, addressing the lack of title deeds that has affected many. He highlighted his efforts to establish the Molo Land Registry Offices, which will eliminate the need for residents to travel to Nakuru for such services. The move aims to empower residents to secure loans and invest in their land confidently.
Kuria shared plans for Molo town to become a complex Sub-county with centralized government services, including the soon-to-be-commissioned Molo Huduma Center. Molo Deputy County Commissioner Jackson Olechtuta supported Kuria’s initiatives, noting that local land conflicts have been a major issue, and the new Lands Office will contribute to regional peace and harmony.
