MILITARY WIVES ASSOCIATION OF KENYA SCHOLARSHIPS FOR KDF ORPHANS.

The Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) in conjunction with Cooperative and Family Banks has today 25th January 2023, handed over seven scholarships to bright but needy students of the Kenya Defence Forces families, at the MWAK offices in Nairobi. The students who excelled in the recently released 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examinations were picked from five different counties across Kenya and are now set for high school, after receiving the fully funded scholarships.

Speaking during the event, MWAK Chairlady Mrs. Tabitha Kibochi commended the students for their outstanding performance and for meeting the threshold for the scholarship. She further urged the students to maintain good character, have good discipline and maintain a good relationship with God. The chairperson further pointed out how the family is an important pillar of the association and encouraged the students to work hard to elevate their families and give back to society.

Brian Mugendi Macharia and Caren Zawadi both qualified for Family Bank Foundation Scholarships with their counterparts, Fortune Jamuguni, Kitolome Alex Muna, Dennis Kimutai, Sasha Akinyate and Muendo Alvin Muthiani qualifying for Cooperative Bank Foundation Scholarships.

They were accompanied to MWAK offices by their mothers who expressed their appreciation to God, MWAK and the banks for choosing their children,it’s a dream come true.

This marks the second year of collaboration between MWAK, Cooperative Bank and Family Banks, this being the second cohort of students to benefit from the program. Since its inception, MWAK has been at the forefront, championing and promoting the well-being of the military families of serving, retired, widowed and orphaned in line with its mission and core values.

MWAK members present,Mary Odhiambo, Grace Amagola and Roseline Wesonga provided mentorship talks to the KCPE graduates on Adolescent challenges, positive and negative peer pressure, setting goals and seizing opportunities that these scholarships provide, “the sky is the limit”.
