Meru: Religious leaders in Meru County have vowed to fully support the new Meru Governor, Reverend Isaac M©thingia, in order to deliver service to the residents. Addressing journalists yesterday, the clerics, under the umbrella of the Mission of Christ Evangelistic Festival (MOCEF), which brings together members of the clergy from the entire county, said the New Governor required support in every aspect for him to succeed in his endeavour of developing the County.
According to Kenya News Agency, led by the group’s treasurer, Pastor Mutua Rugongo, the religious leaders acknowledged the challenges Governor M©thingia faces and emphasized the need for collective support from residents for success. Rugongo urged the Governor to collaborate closely with all county leaders, including the clergy, to better understand the community’s needs.
The clergy stressed the importance of the Governor engaging directly with the community rather than solely relying on office work. They highlighted the necessity for the Governor to be guided by public priorities when initiating projects to ensure community ownership and relevance.
Furthermore, Rugongo encouraged the Governor to conduct public consultations before project initiation to gather community input and ensure projects align with residents’ desires. This approach, they believe, will enhance the perceived value of such initiatives.
Mr. Rugongo also highlighted the importance of involving the youth in the Governor’s administration, noting that their energy could significantly contribute to regional development.
