Integral Media has partnered with the Narok County government to create job opportunities for Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) graduates.
Speaking during a flagging off ceremony of a team to sensitize the youth in nine TVETs in the county, the Integral Media Director Ashington Ngigi said their aim is to link the youth to job opportunities through a digital platform dubbed ‘Ya kazi’.
“Ya Kazi” platform enables the youth to register their profiles and skills they have. This helps potential employees within your location to get to know you and contact you easily,” he said.
He reiterated that the company works with 15 green energy businesses that engage the youth to equip them better and give them a platform to work.
Already, he said, over 1000 youth in the country have registered with the platform where 121 of the professionals are from Narok County; 29 of those from Narok County being female.
“We will move to the entire county to implement this programme. Our key business is to empower the youth and connect them with job opportunities,” he said.
The company’s Head of Practical Action Timothy Mwangi said they re-skill and up-skill the youth to enhance their capacity in the job market.
They spoke at the county government headquarters today after meeting the County Deputy Governor Tamalinye Koech where they encouraged graduate youth to visit the Ya kazi platform to register.
The Deputy Governor, who represented Governor Patrick Ntutu lauded the team for the initiative to help create job opportunities for the youth.
Koech called on parents to take advantage of the TVETs that are built in all the constituencies to educate their children who did not make it to the university.
“You do not need a certificate to join TVETs. These are institutions where the learners perfect their skills and can easily be self-employed despite the fact that they could not have joined primary or secondary schools,” he added.
