Lugari: Lugari Member of Parliament Nabii Nabwera has called for collaborative efforts to combat the rising crime rate in the constituency. Nabwera expressed concern over the emergence of juvenile criminal gangs terrorizing members of the public, especially at night, and the recent murders of innocent individuals in the constituency.

According to Kenya News Agency, speaking during the burial of Alfred Amugune at Saisi area in Mautuma Ward, the lawmaker said the constituents must decisively end breeding grounds of crime, such as disco matanga and create a safe environment for the youth to thrive. He emphasized the importance of keeping children in school and shielding them from criminal influence to ensure they pursue education as a pathway to a brighter future.

Nabwera highlighted several alarming incidents, including the murder of a 21-year-old girl in Chevaywa Ward and the gang-rape and murder of a woman in Itumbu area in Chekalini Ward. He noted that these crimes were allegedly committed by individuals returning from disco matanga. He expressed regret that young boys in the constituency were abandoning studies to join criminal gangs, citing a recent incident in Lwandeti Ward where boys formed a gang named the 42 brothers.

The MP also raised concerns about the disappearance of 11 learners from Mukuyu Secondary School, despite their school fees being fully paid. He urged the community to assist and advise learners who are dropping out to return to school, warning that failing to do so could lead to future threats within the community.
