Limuru: The final phase of the Universities, Colleges, and Vocational Institutes Bursary Issuance for the Limuru National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) 2024/2025 Financial Year concluded with the disbursement of Sh14,938,000. The issuance of the bursaries to various recipients was held today at Limuru Technical and Vocational College in Kamandura, Limuru Central Ward.
According to Kenya News Agency, Limuru Technical and Vocational College, with over 700 students, received Sh1,556,000 from the total allocation, reflecting the institution’s growth with the majority of beneficiaries being students from the constituency. Kamirithu Polytechnic also benefited from the bursary program, receiving Sh668,000 to support students pursuing technical and vocational education at the institution.
Limuru Member of Parliament John Kiragu, who graced the disbursement ceremony, encouraged more young people to enroll in technical colleges to acquire vital skills in preparation for future careers. He highlighted the importance of technical education in empowering the youth and contributing to the prosperity of Limuru and the nation.
The MP wished all the beneficiaries success in their studies and assured them of significant infrastructural development in all the institutions. He pledged to build a 500-student hostel at Limuru Technical and Vocational College to enhance the learning environment.
Sarah Njoki, a parent whose daughter received a bursary to pursue a diploma in hospitality management, expressed gratitude for the government support, acknowledging its role in making education accessible. Peter Kamau, a second-year student in electrical installation, also appreciated the financial assistance that enabled him to focus on his studies.
The bursary disbursement ceremony was attended by Hon. Pacifica Ongecha (Nominated MCA) and Rev. Silas Nerbat Babu (Joshua Matenjwa Parish Minister), who witnessed the distribution of funds to deserving students. The NG-CDF bursary program demonstrates the government’s commitment to making technical and vocational education accessible to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring financial constraints do not hinder their pursuit of practical skills. This initiative aligns with the government’s strategy to develop a skilled workforce to drive economic growth and reduce youth unemployment.
