Makueni: Makueni County Assembly Clerk Kevin Mutuku has issued a stern warning to opinion and elected leaders, cautioning them against the exploitation of youth for political purposes. Mutuku, who also serves as the Patron of Makueni University Students Associations (MUSA), emphasized the importance of leaders presenting actionable solutions to uplift the youth rather than using them for personal gains.

According to Kenya News Agency, Mutuku made these remarks during the swearing-in ceremony of MUSA officials at Green Park Hall in Wote town. He declared, “I want to tell the elected leaders who intend to use our young people that their time is up.” Mutuku further stressed his commitment to preventing any politician from misusing the youth under his oversight.

Mutuku urged leaders to focus on providing solutions to unify and mentor MUSA members, leveraging their diverse talents in fields such as arts, artificial intelligence, music, and sports to create job opportunities and improve their lives. He encouraged the youth to pursue elective positions and maintain integrity, stating, “We just need to stand for integrity and do things right and present ourselves for opportunities.”

At the same forum, MUSA President Daniel Kisila highlighted the association’s efforts to engage with the Makueni County Assembly. They have petitioned for the establishment of a Comrades Chamber to discuss policies affecting local residents and a Youth Advisory Board to guide the Executive on youth-related issues.

The newly sworn-in MUSA officials include President Daniel Kisila, Deputy President Sabina Mutunga, Secretary General Joseph Musyoki, Finance Officer Faith Mutanu, Logistics Director Willy Mutunga, Administrator General Joy Kimeu, Person with Disability Representative Chris Makau, and Executive Advisor Obadiah Titus.
