As thousands of youths await the release of last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Keiyo North MP Adams Kipsanai has urged them to enroll in their local Technical Training Institutions (TTIs) once the results are out.
The MP who was speaking at Kipsoen TTI during a career day said with government having provided capitation to the students and ensuring they have access to HELB, TTIs are the cheapest institutions that everyone can afford.
Kipsanai added that the skills gained in the institutions will enable them become self-reliant and help in creating jobs for other youths. He added youths who have already completed their courses will greatly benefit from the national government’s national housing programme which is ongoing in different counties.
Joseph Bittok who is the principal said they have so far enrolled over 400 youths adding that there was room for more. He said not all the candidates will make it to the university adding that courses offered in the TTIs are equally important as those offered in universities.
Bittok said the TTI majors in mechatronics but said they offer other courses like electrical, plumbing, dressmaking and hairdressing among others.
The principal said the government has equipped the institution with the latest equipment including qualified tutors thus ensuring the graduates are well prepared for the market.
