Laikipia Health Service (LHS) has invested about half a billion-shillings towards upscaling seamless health service delivery.
County Chief Officer in charge of Health Dr. Donald Mugoi speaking to the media on Thursday in Nanyuki town said that they were investing in ICTs and medical equipment targeting to offer efficient and effective health services to residents.
“We are looking at what commodities and technologies do for us to be able to provide comprehensive health care. That will see under LHS, a very good investment in leasing of medical equipment, renovation of facilities and infrastructural upgrade,” said Mugoi.
He added that the investment would also enable them to get MRI CT scan machines in the LHS facilities, Nyahururu hospital becoming a Renal dialysis centre and further expand acute care services, laboratories, all geared towards providing quality health care. He further said the Nyahururu hospital would have an orthopaedic surgeon.
The facility which has rebranded recently from health department to LHS has 84 health facilities outlets reflecting the spirit, vision and mission of quality health services.
“We recognize the role health care plays in our economy in ensuring the wellbeing of our population. We want to ensure there is proper work flow within our facilities in that our systems are speaking to each other in a very seamless manner and to live to the expectation of 21st century,” said County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of health Ms Rose Maitai.
Maitai further said that after rebranding, they were now working seven days a week in bid to serve more clients, doing sample referrals to save patients in medical cost and also have reduced time on which clients used to spend at the facility down to an average of an hour from three hours.
