Kwale: Kwale is set to host the 2025 Confederation of Africa Cycling (CAC) Road Cycling African Championships from November 19 to 23, 2025. The event is expected to bring together cyclists from 36 different nationalities to compete for honors and experience the warmth and beauty of the coastal county. This marks the second consecutive year Kenya is hosting the continental competition, following the inaugural 2024 edition held in Eldoret.
According to Kenya News Agency, the event will feature multiple categories, including road racing, time trials, and mountain biking, and aims to boost tourism and inspire youth participation in the sport. Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani hosted a delegation from the Kenya Cycling Federation (KCF) to discuss preparations for the upcoming international cycling event. Governor Achani encouraged Kenyans to embrace cycling as an alternative means of transportation, highlighting its health benefits.
The meeting focused on finalizing logistics and partnerships for the high-profile competition. Governor Achani expressed her enthusiasm for Kwale being selected as the next host by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports. She described it as a transformative opportunity for the county’s economy, sports sector, and tourism industry. Hosting this international cycling event presents a unique opportunity for Kwale, promising economic growth, new investments, and a boost in tourism.
The Kenya Cycling Federation has been instrumental in positioning Kenya as a rising hub for international cycling. The meeting also saw the presence of Deputy Governor Chirema Kombo and County Executive Committee Members Francisca Kilonzo, Ali Joto, and Michael Mutua.
